fun art

patrick dougherty recently came to iowa to create an outdoor art installation on a lake near us. i took my kids there on a freezing cold day, but we had so much fun! i loved the concept and the construction of the installation. my kids loved the tunnel-ness and hide-ability. we were all happy.

i've never done a panoramic collage of photos, so this might not be the most graceful, but i love seeing the whole thing. it was really a U-shape, but i'm not so fancy with the panorama. (hurry & click it to see it big!)

Tina, That looked like so much fun with your children, and the art was so interesting. I hadn't heard of the artist, so I googled him and saw some of his other works. Very nice. For some reason it reminded me of an artist named Christo. We went to the NSW Museum of Art in Sydney once and he had a display in the entry way. He's known for surrounding islands with his art. Here's a link if you're interested.

I so enjoyed your web site and find your pieces to be so creative. Keep up the great work.
Nice to see great pictures of your kiddos having fun.

Jonathan had an extra credit project to go see Macbeth at our UH Kenedy Theatre so we rode our bikes there together on Sunday and watched Macbeth -- not my favorite Shakespeare play due to all of the violence, but it was good and fun to see live theater with the family. Kathy R

Kind of looks like your kids are hatching from a big nest ;0)

Wow, you just don't think of Iowa as having cool art (just kiddin). I happen to know a niece from Iowa who does cool art...keep it up...you seem to have a really amazing business going.

I would have loved to have seen the structures...in the pictures, it really looked like you were having fun.
